Week 10 - Creating Competitive Advantage: VolunPeerism's Uniqueness

During this week, we researched on several rival companies and their projects that have similarities with our project, VolunPeerism. We have gathered a total of six (6) other companies that also offer mental health support-- all of which are categorized by the team using the Quadrant approach as shown below in Figure 1.

Figure 1. Competitors

The VolunPeerism's competitors are divided into 4 distinct relationships: affordable-online/offline, expensive-online/offline. As can be observed in Figure 1, VolunPeerism can be seen in the 1st quadrant together with Mental Health First Responder (MHFR), a website under the MentalHealthPH organization that offers low-cost individual therapy sessions, medical treatment, and more. However, VolunPeerism has unique features outside of the scope of MHFR.

The following are the unique features of VolunPeerism:
  1. It is a mobile application, meaning anyone who owns a smartphone can access the services offered by the app.
  2. The user only pays for only P10.00 per month on monthly subscription, and can already access therapeutic sessions from mental health professionals, and other community members who are willing to volunteer and help other people who are in need. In short, VolunPeerism is a community that help each other out.
  3. VolunPeerism hold social events such as clean-and-green programs where users can take part of to contribute to a healthier environment. In addition, the user can also can join the growing VolunPeerism community and potentially nurture their leadership, the ability to help others in need, and have a healthier mind and body.
